Question Clustering
Flags 3+ consecutive rhetorical questions in a paragraph.
What It Does
Detects consecutive sentences ending with question marks. Three or more in a row are flagged as over-telegraphed uncertainty.
Why It Matters
A single rhetorical question creates tension. Three in a row dissipate it — the reader feels led through a checklist of anxiety rather than experiencing it organically. Show the character's uncertainty through action, hesitation, or physical response.
What Gets Flagged
| Severity | Example | Why | Suggested Revision |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hint | "What had he done? Why was she here? Could he still escape?" | 3 consecutive questions | Keep one question; show the rest through action |
