Readability & Structure

Paragraph Balance

Flags walls of text (very long paragraphs) and orphan paragraph runs (excessive single-sentence paragraphs).

What It Does

Detects paragraphs exceeding 300 words ("walls of text") and runs of 5+ consecutive single-sentence paragraphs ("orphan paragraphs").

Why It Matters

Long paragraphs overwhelm readers visually — they need whitespace to rest. Conversely, too many choppy one-liners read like a grocery list, not prose.

What Gets Flagged

Severity Example Why Suggested Revision
Information 350-word paragraph Visual wall of text Break at natural topic shifts
Hint 5+ single-sentence paragraphs in a row Choppy rhythm Combine related thoughts

Configuration

No configuration options. Thresholds: 300 words for walls, 5 consecutive for orphans.
