Readability & Structure
Paragraph Balance
Flags walls of text (very long paragraphs) and orphan paragraph runs (excessive single-sentence paragraphs).
What It Does
Detects paragraphs exceeding 300 words ("walls of text") and runs of 5+ consecutive single-sentence paragraphs ("orphan paragraphs").
Why It Matters
Long paragraphs overwhelm readers visually — they need whitespace to rest. Conversely, too many choppy one-liners read like a grocery list, not prose.
What Gets Flagged
| Severity | Example | Why | Suggested Revision |
|---|---|---|---|
| Information | 350-word paragraph | Visual wall of text | Break at natural topic shifts |
| Hint | 5+ single-sentence paragraphs in a row | Choppy rhythm | Combine related thoughts |
Configuration
No configuration options. Thresholds: 300 words for walls, 5 consecutive for orphans.
