Flags long scenes with no indication of character motivation or intention.
What It Does
Scans scene text for motivation words (wanted, needed, decided, hoped, tried, etc.). Flags scenes of 6+ paragraphs lacking any motivation signal.
Why It Matters
Readers need to understand why a character is acting. Without clear motivation, scenes feel aimless.
